Recognize, describe, and create artwork of various styles and subjects, in a variety of media and techniques.
Each week, using the Studio Habits of Mind, students will develop skills in order to analyze and communicate about art using a variety of visual art terms. Students will be able to generate, organize, and develop artistic ideas in order to refine and complete their own works of art.
In each lesson or project, we will focus on one or more concepts from the Elements of Art, Drawing Skills, or the Principles of Design, in which the student will create original works of art. Peer and self-critiques will be used for students to be able to evaluate and discuss art.
Students will also learn to appreciate and utilize visual art in other subjects and areas of their lives by incorporating artistic ideas with societal, cultural, and historical relevance.
