Meet MRs. Hendrix
Hello! ¡Hola!
My name is Chelsea Hendrix (formerly Dudek), and I am thrilled to be teaching in my ninth year at SMS. I am originally from Yukon, Oklahoma, but have been living in Stillwater for over 12 years, so I think I have almost fully converted from a Millerette to a Pioneer.
I graduated from Oklahoma State University with degrees in Fine Arts (Studio Art) and Spanish, which led me to my current path of teaching 7th grade Art (and 7th grade Spanish in past years).
As a university student, I was able to study abroad in Valencia, Spain for a semester, spending 6 months studying and traveling throughout Europe. When I teach, I hope to instill in my students a love and appreciation of travel, cultures, and arts of all kinds!
Besides teaching Art and Spanish, I love listening to music, public radio programs and podcasts while doing the following activities: cooking, baking bread, gardening, creating art, and generally, being active outdoors. When I'm not teaching and not listening to music or podcasts, I like traveling (or sometimes, just imagining that I am traveling!), watching movies, and hanging out with my husband, friends, and family. I had my first child in April 2020. Her name is Willa.
I am excited to meet all my new students...It's going to be an awesome year!
